The BBC - having already planned for a local radio station to cover the county of Dorset - has now put the concept of a Local BBC Radio Dorset on ice in the wake of the recently announced cuts imposed by the Licence Fee. This is NOT a case for a higher Licence Fee. It's a case for getting the priorities right in the light of the BBC's budgetary allocation! Everyone - including the BBC itself - knows that we need and deserve a local BBC radio station specifically aimed at residents of our County Town of Dorchester and the very large rural area comprising Abbotsbsury, Beaminster, Blandford, Bridport, Chideock, Ferndown, Gillingham, Lyme Regis, Portland, Shaftsbury, Sherborne, Sturminster Newton, Swanage, Wareham, Weymouth, Wimborne Minster, Wool and all the many rural towns and villages in between.

Please help us to convince the 'Powers That Be' that the concept of a BBC Local Radio Dorset is not just a Need but a long standing Necessity. The BBC has already acknowledged the Need.
